Momentum: The Event, in support of my second publication.
Momentum: The Event was thoughtfully curated as an evening of reflection, artistry, and human connection. An experience designed to inspire guests to think critically about the challenges of our time while also appreciating the common beauty, shared blessings, and enduring gifts that life offers to us all. At the center of this vision is Navin Shievdayal, a Computer Science graduate, writer, and author of Beyond Truth and Momentum: A Prescribed Force. His work spans disciplines, exploring the depths of human thought, expression, and reasoning with a voice shaped by introspection, purpose, and a fascination with those who strive to think beyond the ordinary limits of human understanding. Through his writing, Navin seeks to wrestle with life’s greater questions while drawing meaning from the human experience and the vastness of the world around us.
Helping bring that vision to life is Mikaela Simon, host of the evening and the artist behind all art pieces for Navin’s recent publication and her brand Doodlealldayy. Since establishing her creative platform in 2017, Mikaela has cultivated a body of work that reflects both imagination and authenticity, using art as her primary language of self-expression. What began as a personal outlet has grown into a recognizable creative brand, complete with an Etsy shop and a virtual gallery that has reached far beyond what she first imagined. Her commitment to constant creation, paired with her openness to new and challenging projects, embodies the same spirit of thoughtful expression that defines the evening itself.
The event is also elevated by the presence of Alyssa Kim, a professional violinist based in New York City whose work spans musical theater, classical performance, and contemporary digital artistry. Alyssa has performed in productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Legally Blonde, Next to Normal, and Sunday in the Park with George, and has also collaborated with acclaimed artists including The Piano Guys, Julia Riew, and Cheeyang Ng. Her musical path has taken her from prestigious stages in New York to celebrated venues in Northern Italy, and her artistry has also found resonance online, where her violin arrangements and covers have garnered millions of views. A graduate of Columbia University in Music and Computer Science, Alyssa brings to the evening a rare blend of technical excellence, creative versatility, and emotional depth that enriches the atmosphere in a truly memorable way.
Also contributing to the experience are Brielle Cabanlit, whose coordination and planning helped shape the event with care and intention; Luis Andrade, whose photography and videography capture the spirit and visual story of the night; and Greg Gibbs, whose musical curation as DJ adds warmth, rhythm, and atmosphere to the overall experience. Together, each contributor plays an important role in shaping an evening that is not only elegant and inspiring, but also carries a deeply personal and rewarding story.
